Learning to be parents

Parenthood starts right after the baby wa born.  No break even though I had a surgery.  I started my first feeding about an hour after Ellie was born.  We went to the breastfeeding class, and it wasn't as difficult as I imagine it would be.  But, of course, Ellie was a natural when it comes to breastfeeding.  Latching on was relatively easy.  My breast didn't get sore until a couple days after we come home.

Ellie has been a good girl - for most of the nights, she only wakes up every 3-4 hours, meaning I only need to get up ~2 times at night.  Each feeding session is quite long though, mainly because of all the diaper changing and waking her up (she has a serious food coma problem =P) She is also such a cutie when I feed her.  When she is hungry, she will keep turning her head left and right with her mouth wide-opened ^o^.  She is like a cute little kitty looking for mama's milk!

Diaper change and burping are mainly Rian's job. It's been only 1 week, and he has already earned a lot of experiences.  Such as, when he hears the pooping sound, he will wake her up some more to let her finish pooping (which he learned after a couple poop fountain/explosion/eruption incidents).  Also, he now uses the changing pad all the time (after she dirtied a few of her blankets and our bed sheets).

All in all, although taking care of a new born is not an easy job, it is also a very very sweet time for all of us. I'd like to see her grow up healthy and strong, but, at the same time, I'm sure I will miss this time period a very much.  I will treasure every moment of it.
